Football tournaments have been held at the Central American and Caribbean Games since the second edition in 1930.

History

After the 1926 edition didn't have football on the schedule, the 1930 edition saw the introduction of football in the schedule. Six teams entered the first tournament which was set up to be in two groups of three with the top two teams going through to the final round. For Cuba they would take out the final round and win the first gold medal with them winning all three of the final round matches.
