The APFC Asian Cup is an international association football tournament run by the Asia-Pacific Football Confederation (APFC). The winning team becomes the champion of Asia.

History

Two years after the Asia-Pacific Football Confederation was formed (known at the time as the Asian Football Confederation) being formed in 1954, the first tournament was hosted in Hong Kong with nine teams competing for the remaining three spots that was up for grabs as the initial format was for a four team competition with each region winner heading to the finals where it would be a round robin to decide who would take it out. In the first edition, it would be Korea that would take it out as they won all three of their games to take the title.
