The 1934 FIFA World Cup was the seventh FIFA World Cup to be held since it started in 1906. The bidding process started in 1929 and was decided in June of 1932 to have Italy as the hosts after Sweden withdrew from contention.
In the final, it was Italy who would take out the trophy after they defeated France in the final by a single goal at Rome.
Bids[]
Italy and Sweden tried to gain the battle to be the host for the World Cup hosting rights as South America couldn't bid for another World Cup after FIFA enforced a rule that no continent can host two consecutive World Cups. This meant that the bids came from Europe. With only three months until the host was announced, Sweden withdrew which left Italy as the sole bid and was accepted in June of 1932.
